What does it mean to be insightful? According to LifeHack, "Insight is the deepest level of knowing and the most meaningful to your life. Insight is a deeper and clearer perception of life, of knowledge, of wisdom. It’s grasping the underlying nature of knowledge, and the essence of wisdom. Insight is a truer understanding of your life and the bigger picture of how things intertwine." Throughout my life, I have been told I have tremendous insight. Please make no mistakes; insight is not a superpower; it comes with highs and lows just as every other characteristic. However, I do believe I can help others see deeper into their lives and move toward a better understanding of themselves that may provide relief. For me, a big part of being SoInsightful is expressing yourself through fashion and your lifestyle! One of my favorite quotes is from the lovely, Helena Bonham Carter. She states, “I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” ― Helena Bonham Carter In my experience, there are many times we abandon our creative selves in favor of a more logical path. We believe we cannot be successful unless we sacrifice our curious nature. As life trudges on, we experience regret the road not traveled. Although creative writing was my first dream, I pursued a career I thought would grant me financial stability. I've created this page to share my writing and chronicle my journey. I hope what I share with you inspires and enlightens in some way. I've recently started to discuss mental health and the roles abandonment and abuse are still relevant once you're no longer in those situations. The hashtag #mentalhealthishygiene brings awareness to the fact many individuals don't consider their mental well-being in their day-to-day lives.
Often in life, we think accomplishments will finally make us feel good about ourselves, but it's an endless cycle. We still feel just as empty and keep yearning for more. Perhaps, like me, you realize you were chasing approval rather than living authentically. I've made the decision that my new lifestyle will reflect the changes I want to see.
Through journaling and creative writing, I was able to identify patterns preventing me from taking steps into an unknown future.
Although we may plan the perfect life, things happen; people get sick, we face roadblocks, and that can bring up feelings of insufficiency. I'm not sure if there is a road to happiness, but I know taking the first step is key. I don't need to know what's next to enjoy the ride.
I hope that when you come here you can pause, reflect, and give yourself some credit for all the amazing things you do. Through my writing and creative expression, The creative writing, fashion and lifestyle I show will inspire you to have more fun!
Starting over when you're barely even got started is hard. Through my vlog, SoInsightful Speaks, I plan to show you aspects of my journey to self-preservation, hope, and abundance. From fashion, social justice issues, to the latest technological advancements, I'll cover it all. I'm going to dare to hope that even in the midst of a complete life reboot, that I'll achieve self-actualization.
